| Bill holds BBA's in both Accounting and Finance and a MBA in Finance from the University of Iowa. He holds both CPA and CMA certifications and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Iowa and Nebraska Societies of CPA's, the Institute of Management Accountants, the Financial Managers Society, and the Bank Administration Institute. Bill is a past chairman of the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) Financial Suppliers Forum. He has also attained a Level II Certification from AMIfs, a certification of knowledge and commitment about profitability accounting in financial institutions. Included in his many awards, Bill was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" in 2003 by the Omaha Chamber of Commerce and KPMG. In 2005, Bill was "Outstanding CPA in Business and Industry" by the Nebraska Society of CPA's. Bill is on the board of directors of American National Bank in Omaha, NE and also on the Supervisory Committee (Vice Chair) of Westerra Credit Union in Denver, CO. |
| Before founding GCG, Bill was the founder and former President and CEO of Profitstar, Inc., one of the leading Asset/Liability Management, Risk Management, Profitability Accounting and Financial Planning firms for financial institutions in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the Pacific Rim, the Caribbean and Central America. Profitstar, Inc. was founded in 1984, and Bill was with the firm for over 23 years, and is the inventor of the popular ProfitStar ALM model. Profitstar Inc. is now part of ProfitStars, a Jack Henry & Associates company, where Bill served as Group President. ProfitStars provides software and services to more than 8000 banks, credit unions, and savings and loans. GCG is a solution partner with ProfitStars. |
| Prior to founding Profitstar, Inc., Bill was a Manager with the international "Big Four" Accounting firm of Deloitte, and a staff accountant with Dee Gosling & Co. (now part of Clifton Gunderson & Co. CPA's) For seven years he was a senior officer of Farmers National Bancorp, a multi-bank holding company, and was also an adjunct member of their Asset/Liability Management Committee. |
| Bill has also taught three semesters of Financial Management at the University of Iowa, has published numerous articles in the areas of Asset/Liability Management, Risk Management and Planning. He is a nationally recognized speaker, and has spoken to thousands of bank executives, credit union executives and examiners at various seminars about a wide variety of subjects. Since 2001, he is a returning instructor at the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU. He has authored two books: "Asset/Liability Management Spelled Out" for Credit Unions, and "A Practical Guide to Asset/Liability Management" for Banks and Thrifts.Banks and Thrifts. |
| Bill is an avid snow skier, an avid poker player "for fun", a "not-so-avid" golfer, a second-degree black belt in karate and a commercial pilot. He is an active volunteer pilot for the Angel Flight Network, and is both the Treasurer and on the Board of Trustees for Angel Flight Central. In 2009 Bill received "Volunteer Pilot of the Year" by Angel Flight Central. |
